Catching up

Well as I predicted its been a while since I've posted in this blog. But in my defence the blog locked me out! I actually had to use Brittany Lowry's blog to get to it cause mine was unsearchable! Soo, thanks Britt! :)

Anyways, a ton has happened to us lately! I'll start with the generally exciting stuff so those of you who aren't as horse crazy can tune out the end ;)

So since February I'd been planning a surprise trip to Mexico for Brandon's graduation present. I know, I know, Wife of the Year. Hahaha but seriously, it was so much fun feeling like an evil mastermind for all those months. I told Brandon that I had a massage conference in Edmonton for a week and that I needed a dummy to use during some of the days since it was too much for me to keep getting massaged everyday. And to sweeten the deal, I told him there was a gun show that he and my brother in law were going to go to the weekend before, which accounted for the full week we were going to be gone in Mexico for. Muhaha, fool proof.

I wasn't planning on telling Brandon until the day before we left, but I ended up having to tell him a week before. And I'm glad I did. Work was so incredibly crazy that I hardly had time to think let alone try to coordinate the necessary lies to surprise him. And boy was he surprised! He didn't believe  me when I told him! I'll save all the details of the trip for another post so I can get through all the rest of the exciting stuff- the horse stuff!

To start, we need to rewind to January (briefly!). I traded horses with my friend Daylen and he took May to ride her and work out some of her kinks and took his horse so I'd still have a horse to ride. It was absolutely amazing blessing. I got great practice  riding a different horse, and May made

HUGE.progress with Daylen and came home in April a rideable, tie-able horse! And it's been so wonderful  having her home to ride! She loves trail rides and with Pavan Park (a park with equestrian trails right by the river in the coulees) only a 5 minute ride away we try and go there often. She needs more of a challenge and adventure than the arena offers! My goal was to have her going well by the time she was 10 and we're right on track! Lately she's been having some issues with something in her neck/back, and she's been irritable when we ride, but we're working on that. And she really enjoys going on our daily walks and getting to pig out on grass ;).

This was on our first trail ride out to pavan where we crossed the river!! It was her first time seeing any body of water bigger than a creek, and although she was hesitant (and Daylen had to get on to make her get down the bank into the river, but I crossed with her on the way back!).

The Greatest Month of the Year: February

It's funny how your birthday month just seems so much more special than any other month. Or at least to me it does. Even just writing the date (any date) in February is more exciting. The older I get the less important birthday party's are, or at least the less obvious I want to make my excitement for celebrations of my birthday, but I can't help it- I love birthdays!!! Especially my own. This year was funny because Brandon was supposed to work until 11pm (which with him working out in Pincher Creek means that he wouldn't be home before midnight), and I didn't want to stay home alone on my birthday night, so I decided to work late. Lame, I know. However, apparently my husband doesn't know me so he surprised me by taking the whole day off so we could go out and play that evening. Opps! Lucky for us my last client canceled last minute so I was home by 7:30pm and we were able to go to the Presidents Ball. After a delicious supper cooked by Brandon of course. I love being married to a man who can cook!! And is very good at it!! Brandon also spoiled me with gifts, and I'm actually posting this on my very own iPad!! How fancy! AND he got me a new vacuum! A DYSON!! Now if ever you come over and my floors are dirty just slap me right in the face hahaha. If Brandon wasn't sleeping right now I'd probably vacuum instead of blogging... Oh well!

I took Saturday off to actually play with Brandon since I worked so much that week- part of the joys of being a Massage Therapist around valentines day ;). That Sunday to Wednesday it was wedding dress  shopping with my mother and sister in laws in Utah. It's rare that we get girl time like that, so it was a real treat. We stayed with Brandon's brother and his wife and their darling little girl Ruby, and it was soo fun. I love 2 year olds and all their craziness! Ruby was hilarious in the dress store, running as fast as she could and hiding in the rack behind the veils. Poor Reina chasing  after her got in a good workout, as I'm sure she does every day chasing that little munchkin. Jill looked so incredible in every single dress it was almost ridiculous, but the dress she chose is gorgeous, and she makes it look absolutely perfect. I'm so excited for June!! The drive was long, but it made me itch to take trips more often. I love road trips!!!

Well, lots more has happened, but all of it involving horses, which I think just deserves its own post. And I'll include pictures with that one, since apparently they're the only things I take pictures of! I told myself I'd go to bed by 10 today, but then I got busy cleaning and then I made the mistake of sitting down with the iPad while the floors were drying and the this is what happened! And the house is still only half clean! Oh well, that's what Brandon gets for getting me an iPad. Thank goodness he evened it out with the vacuum so I'm still motivated to pick up once in a while ;)

A beginning...

I LOVE reading blogs. I'm terrible at keeping in touch with people and reading their blogs helps me stay in the loop of their life. But I never thought I had anything exciting going on in my life that people would want to read about. Then I read my friends blog about writing for her posterity so they would know who she was and what her life was like, and I decided I wanted that. I've always been awful at writing in journals, thus the title of blurb. If I make a goal to just keep it brief then writing won't be so daunting. Plus I don't know how exciting our life is, since we have no children, no social life, or time in general, but I'm willing to give it a go.

"...It's not the beginning, but a beginning" Robert Jordan. There's really point in trying to back log this blog, so I'll just start with where I'm at now.  Elder Richard G. Scott said, "We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." Although it's a bit of a tongue twister, I could not love that quote more. I have this obsession with being this amazing person one day, so why not start now? I can be a terrible procrastinator (as anyone who has seen my walls empty of wedding photos would know), but I'm really trying hard to be better. That's why I'm going to try to be more productive and be a better person with every passing day. And that means doing the basics: everyday I'm going to watch less TV and more conference talks/mormon messages; read my scriptures more and my other books less; clean/organize in the mornings instead of sleeping in -most days ;). I feel like I often fill my 'jar of time' with the good, but not necessarily crucial 'sand', and leave little room for the important 'rocks' in my life. My most important goal is to spend more religious time with Bran. We sometimes don't make time for FHE, scripture study, or prayers together- it's something that is unbelievably important to me for when we have kids, but we need to make it more of a priority for our marriage in the meantime. The way our schedules are, it isn't always logistically possible, but we'll figure that out as we go. So that's my goal- for today AND tomorrow (so I can feel like I'm still procrastinating a little bit and feel more comfortable with the idea... ).

Time to start consistently being the person I want to be one day!
